Supporting your immune system at this challenging time through food as medicine couldn’t be easier. This spicy butter bean dip contains the humble yet amazing herb, garlic which is known for its health-promoting attributes.

Garlic is packed with strong anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties, benefits which most of us could do with right now. Teamed with cumin, good for digestion and paprika for antioxidants this dip will have you coming back for more.


  • tin of butter beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • good pinch of salt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • juice of 1/2 large lemon
  • water: 25-50ml depending on desired consistency

Blend the beans, garlic, salt and spices and then add the liquids.  Add sufficient water to get a consistency you like.

Serve with veggie sticks or rice crackers for a healthy snack.  You could also add some more olive oil and make it into a pesto to drizzle of pasta or the like.
