Golden Milk is a fantastic drink to help you get the super-healing powers of turmeric easily into your diet.  It’s also wonderfully warming on a Winter’s day. Turmeric contains powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds which may help lessen your risk of heart disease, Alzheimer’s, depression, cancer and arthritis whilst improving brain function and longevity. Wow!

To make sure that your body absorbs turmeric efficiently, definitely don’t forget to add the black pepper as this can increase absorption by a whopping 2000%!

Ingredients: Golden Paste
1/4 cup turmeric powder
1/2 cup of water
2 tsp coconut oil

Method: combine the first 2 ingredients and bring to a low simmer in a saucepan. Add the coconut oil, which will make it easier for your body to absorb.  Stir for 5/6 minutes adding extra water as necessary until a smooth paste forms.  You’ll need to keep an eye on it to make sure that it doesn’t stick to your pan.

Ingredients:Golden Milk
1 tsp golden paste
1/2 cup of coconut cream and 1/2 cup of water (or 1 cup of your preferred milk)
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp allspice
1 clove
1 tsp honey or rice syrup

Method:
Combine the paste and spices together.  Pour in the diluted cream or your preferred milk and bring to a low simmer whilst stirring all the time for a few minutes to make sure that there are no lumps. Add the honey, remove the clove and then pour yourself a glass of winter goodness.
